Evening chaps…

Got another question for all you brain boxes…. I've just ordered myself a new exhaust system, I've gone for a 'play mini' large bore side exit and have the associated link pipe coming with it. I spoke on the phone to one of the blokes at play mini and he told me that the link pipe will not marry up with the down pipe I have from the turbo.. the link pipe is made to fit up to an LCB system. So, I will need to somehow marry the link to the down pipe. I'm guessing I'm not the first to come across this problem so was wondering what others have done or would do? I was thinking maybe I could chop the link pipe so it was flush with the down pipe and get another bit of pipe from somewhere that fits snug over both pipe ends. I could then cut two slits either end of the said pipe and then clamp both ends with some exhaust clamps? Hopefully the down pipe is the same diameter as the link pipe…

What d'ya reckon chaps?

I got a section of pipe the same bore as the downpipe expanded at a local exhaust specialist and welded it on. I'll have a look and see if i can find a photo

There is a genuine VW part that is made for this very job. Look on ebay for 'vw exhaust sleeve' and choose the right size

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Looking at a few various exhaust sleeves… would you go for a straight through one like this with only one tightening bolt either end….

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Exhaust-Clamp-Sl...=item4d34ebe96d

Or a tapered one either end like this, with a proper exhaust clamp both sides…

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/51mm-2-Exhaust-P...=item1c3e326d68

I would imagine its six of one and half a dozen of the other but I thought I'd ask incase one was known for being better.. I would probably go for the second had I not asked.. looks more secure(ish)...

I'd go for the first; the clamps are much less intrusive. In addition, the first clamps don't tend to crimp the pipes as much as the more traditional ones making them easier to remove later
