I've just bought a turbo technics setup, the person who was using it last was running 2 oil systems. So his normal engine one with a oil cooler, the a secondary one with a oil cooler feeding something else, I'm guessing it was just for the turbo, has anyone seen this before? |

Not sure if it's necessary using a separate oil system for the turbo.
My build thread..

Second system would surely need a second pump for a start and all seems a bit unnecessary. Depending on the use, many don't even use a cooler these days, particularly with new oils.

IMO and experience its not needed for our application in the A series turbo engine a 6 row cooler is more than up to the job for the whole engine and gearbox on the road and a 13 row for track use giving it some beans. the optimum oil temp for power is 100c but most only get to around 85c on average
