Hi Everyone,

I am in the process of building my turbo engine but I have a dilemma, but I need some advice from the more experienced guys on here.
I am using a mirage manifold as I don't want to cut the bulkhead and was originally going to use the t2 turbo from the Renault 5gt, but have found out that the AR is only .33. But want a longer boast so I am now looking at using the GT1752 turbo as the AR is .47.
I would like to get around the 180bhp with the intention of trying to join the 200 club in the future.

Has anyone used the GT 1752 turbo if so what is the reliability as I've read many reports about it with mixed reviews.
Is this good for the 180 that I initially want and 200+ bhp in the future.

Thanks guys

I'm sure there's a few peeps on here with 200+ with the gt17.
That's the one I'm going to be using with big power in mind.

Has anyone got the dimensions of 1752 wheels? It's not listed on the Garrett site.

EDIT: Never mind, I think I found some figures that look reasonable...

turbine:
inducer - 43.6mm
exducer - 34.2mm
A/R - 0.47

compressor:
inducer - 36.4mm
exducer - 52.1mm
A/R - 0.53

Any reason why the ko3 turbo`s have not been used? Especially the hybrids.

That is slightly higher than what I was planning on running, so hopefully I'll be able to run high boost too :)

I think most of us use higher octane stuff.

I run my current engine (1380 na) on v power/BP ultimate plus castrol valvemaster plus which has octane booster in it.

Sorry for the thread hijack by the way!

I tend to put super-unleaded in mine whenever I can but have found that when super isn't available I stick to low boost and it seems to run better on 95

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

I believe someone on here once mentioned it is likely to do with the substances used to boost octane actually reduces the calorific value of the fuel.

My engine is pretty low comp ~8:1 so I am just planning on running 95 going forwards.
