I sold some stuff or Fleece bay. Despite saying I don't take paypal, somebody bid and won. Then he realises I don't have paypal - i do, but only ever use it for 'buying' stuff, not recieving payments...

So - I tell this guy to send me the money, and I'll accept it this once. He duly does - and I get an email off paypal saying the following:

You have received a pending credit card payment. However, to reduce credit card processing costs for accounts that do not pay fees, the ability to receive credit card payments is limited to Premier and Business accounts.

If you upgrade to a Premier or Business account, all of your pending credit card payments will be completed. With your upgraded account, you will receive a range of premium features, including the ability to accept unlimited credit card payments. You must pay fees for accepting money with a Premeir or Business account. The fees on incoming payments are low -- just + to receive payments. For more details, go to:

If you would like to keep your Personal account, you may log in and deny this payment. Personal accounts may still accept payments funded with a bank account or PayPal balance at no charge.

Dave, I have a paypal account that can receive payments. It did not cost me anything to upgrade, I think I have a "Premier" account?

Have a look into it, I am sure you can upgrade for free, and then you pay a small percentage of the total to PayPal for the privelidge. I usually tell people that they can pay using PayPal, but must cover the cost PayPal skim off. I think it is 4%?

If you have any bother then you can get the guy to PayPal me if you like.

Hi,

It doesn't cost anything to have the upgraded account, however there are processing fees for using a credit card.

Tell the dude he has to pay those fees if he wants to use the old plastic.
