Hi guys,
This is my first turbo build..
I've had my mini for around 4 years, I've worked on it on and off for that time between setting up my business and living abroad. I've been researching possible modifications for as long as I have owned it, so as you can tell I'm not one to rush things!

I own a 92 city E 998.

I have removed the 988 engine and begun stripping it down. Ready for new pistons and a re bore.

-I've bought and fitted a mega jolt and ford EDIS set up
-I have a metro cam.
-Metro plenum
-12g295 cooper head (23cc chambers) I also have a 12g940 not keen on pocketing the block though...
-maniflow exhaust system.

Things I need are...
-hiff 44
-Gt 1544 turbo
-X-pin diff
-Duplex timing gears
-Grey clutch?
-Piston. (Need advice)
-inter cooler and all the tubing and gubbins that go with it...

I need to gain around 6cc in either the head or Pistons to drop me comp ratio to around th 8.5 mark and would appreciate advice on the best route to take/Pistons to buy. I don't want to over bore the block, preferring a +20 so I have room in the future if needs be to bore again.

Iv looked in to exhaust manifold ideas and designs and am torn between fabricating a pulse tuned manifold or a smaller more compact design along the lines of the mirage manifold with larger tubing to kill pulse.
I am also aware I am not building a high performance F1 car so pulse tuning may be a tad overkill..

Any thought, ideas or advice would be appreciated!

Cheers,
Scott

Welcome to TM!

There are a couple of cylinder head gurus on here, Turbo Phil or Benross, who have a great reputation for producing turbo cylinder heads. Benross did mine, and though not running it's a work of art.

Piston choice is relatively limited, but after some research I went for Keith Calver's ST range. Reasonably cheap and again have a good reputation.

Was going to post the link to the Calver ST shop for the pistons, but his shop is closed at the moment.

Update...
Just got my block back from the machine shop. It's been rebored +40, the 20773 Pistons have been fitted to the conrods and are ready to be fitted to the block once my piston ring compressor comes in the post.

Iv rebuilt the gearbox with standard gears and fitted a X-pin diff.
I bought the minisport fast road cam as it turns out my metro cam wasn't a metro cam... Ha.
The turbo clutch and flywheel are all ready.
Megajolt is wired up and working.
I came across a 12g295 in good condition, it's been skimmed but with the dish in the Pistons it's giving me a 8.8:1/8.9:1 CR.
Which should hopefully be good for a sensible 10psi boost.
I will make an attempt to upload pics..

If you're using the 20773 pistons:

1) keep the rpm sensible
2) bin the circlips and use ptfe buttons
