After months of work and the usual ups and downs of mini modifying i am finally going to the rollers tomorrow *Clapping*

I have a fully built engine and box from the one and only Benross. So a big thanks to steve for mentoring me all the way through my build.

My motor is a 1310, phase 2 cam, fully worked benross head, gt1752, rebuilt carb, matty manifold & down pipe, playmini system, lightweight flywheel & back plate, fully balanced, clubman gears with atb diff, 3.2 final drive. Aem tru boost controller

I have probably missed some of the spec but it gives you a good idea.

We plan to maybe take it up to 15psi.

So with that spec what do you think it will make on the rollers?.

Its my first turbo build and i hope it doesn't all go pop.

Thanks fellas.

I am getting quite nervous about it.

I have also managed to shoe horn a 4wd cossy intercooler under the bonnet.

The fear on the rollers is worth going through to not have any fear of an unsetup engine on the road

It is nerve racking but worth it, theres something about hearing your car at full revs whilest standing beside it that makes it scary. The operator asked me to sit on the wing to put more weight on the front, at full throttle the actuator disconnected itself and the turbo way over boosted, an intercooler hose blew off and hit me on the back! All good fun.

....melted a chunk of exhaust valve out of the scamp on the rollers before now....didnt realise a p clip had been crushed on a small section of rubber fuel line no problem till full throttle under load..... *oh well*

I am still bloody shacking after the test drive! It's feels like a missile.
Saying that i was happy with the results is a massive understatement for sure.

And lucky enough not to have to sit on the front of it at 7000 revs.

As soon as i get in i will put the results and graph up. I need to go and change my pants again.

Lol!! Your not wrong steve. Them back roads are bumpy enough as well as trying to keep it in a straight line along with cooked brakes coming down the hill. There was no wonder i looked grey. *happy*
But thanks for coming along today mate. I was bloody relieved everything held together. i had no doubts with your work, the problems would of been from my work.
Its a great advertisement for your engine builds and head work.

The maximum figures was made at only 13psi. John Sleath didn't want to take it any further as is was running great and suggested that maybe it was quick enough. The man is not wrong.

I will put a video up of the car on the rollers.

There was supposed to be a picture of the graph but i am struggling to get it to show.

Anyway it made 171.2hp with 160 ftlb torque.

That's good going, there's no free power on Johns rollers either.

Thanks guys.

I couldn't be more happier. John was very pleased with it. He did admit that minis wasn't his favourite cars to tune.
The only thing I need to look into is when the boost controller takes over from the standard actuator pressure around 9 psi the turbo pulses a bit. But when I turn it up to around 12 it starts to smooth out. It could be maybe that there is a bit of movement in the actuator bracket or a faulty boost solenoid. It's not a massive problem as it still runs well but I don't want to run it at 12 psi all the time as I have about run out of clean under crackers.

But if you fellas have any ideas it would be greatly appreciated.

You should be able to sort the pulsing out by adjusting the crack pressure setting in the TruBoost. There are a mass of settings in it to sort out.
