Hi all
I'm just doing a large amount of welding and sticking a fibreglass flip front on my trusty '95 rover cooper.

While I've got it in bits I thought I would have a play with the engine, and happen to have a small (new) turbo lying around.

The engine is an A+ 1275 which I rebuilt about 1000 miles ago (new shells, rings, honed, vernier duplex cam sprocket, 544/CA4 cam, standard (dished) pistons, standard, mildly worked head)

Being a rover cooper, I believe the CR is supposed to be 10:1

What I want to do is slap in this turbo (I will build a tubular manifold) and run it quite mild (only a couple of PSI) I will use a Jenvey twin injection throttle body (DCOE type) , to a swan-neck intake, and probably a small intercooler for good luck.
And to control this all a Microsquirt ecu.

Questions:
- The cam - is the duration too much on this cam for a turbo setup? (274 deg)
- CR - even with a low boost setup, am I going to have to do some head work to lower compression?
- Am I mad?

Cam - 274 is fine
CR - if 10:1 than 5psi no problem. I'd make sure you know what it actually is though
Mad- probably not.

the jenvey injection stuff might cause you some troubles with boost,
the fuel distribuition needs to be decent with a cr of 10:1 and 5psi imo

if your ecu can do batch fire and 4 squirts per cycle you might just get away with it, dont forget you may also need bigger injectors

Yes i moved to the darkside *happy*

Thanks guys *smiley*
Yes the injectors need to be rated 4x that of a 4 port - port injection setup.
The Microsquirt now has some quite well advanced Siamese induction timing stuff.

Or i could just use a HIF44...

A third option is a large single throttle body with a single big injector....

Turbo This..
