Hi, currently building a turbo 1275 marina engine with type 9 gearbox to go into a morris minor.
Already running a N/A marina 1275 with type 9 box in the car, front coilovers and discs, mk2 escort rear axle. ford stud pattern all round so the car is all setup for more power.

hoping for a reliable 150 bhp @ 8.5-1 comp ratio? An intercooler will be used, there is plenty of space compared to a mini. opinions on an oil cooler?
So far ive got,

1275 marina bottom end
1300gt rods
metro turbo inlet manifold, plenum, carb, exhaust manifold, turbo elbow, turbo, actuator

from what ive read people dont bother with uprated crank and rods but i thought about a cross drilled, balanced, hardened crank. and balance + polish the rods??
All bolts and studs will be ARP. the engine will be built with all new bearings, water pump, MED high pressure oil pump.

Spec im thinking is:

BLOCK + CRANK
1275 marina block bored and honed +20 thou. block and rear cap machined for a proper crank oil seal.
Is under crown cooling needed?
Centre main strap
Crank : marina, crossdrilled, balanced, hardened and re-ground if it is found to be needed.

PISTONS + RODS
Omega cast +20 10cc pistons
balanced/polished 1300gt rods

CAM + ROCKERS
avonbar phase 2
Duplex timing chain
High grade followers
1.3 ratio Roller rockers
New standard push rods

CYLINDER HEAD
will contact Benross for this hopefully
ported turbo elbow, manifold. T3 turbo. what size exhaust pipe for this setup?

CLUTCH & FLYWHEEL
7.5'' steel flywheel
7.5'' heavy duty MG Midget 'rally' clutch cover
7.5'' heavy duty MG Midget 'rally' clutch plate

GEARBOX
refreshed ford type 9 gearbox

Any help/guidance is much appreciated

With that sort of spec 150bhp should be easily attainable,

I use a Ford clutch on a re-drilled Midget flywheel, standard Midget crank and rods,no undercrown oil jets and a small intercooler in the A35,with 140bhp.I do urge you to junk the T3 and replace it with a GT1752, if just for driveability.

As David says, plus I would keep the standard crank, mine survives 200bhp plus 60bhp on the strip. The rear oil seal is a problem, they all tend to leak with a blower on. If you intend to rag it hard over race distances you might want to think about oil squirts but otherwise don't bother.
