Don't believe that worktops tend to be biscuit jointed.
Most work surfaces are fibre board and not ideal for using biscuits.
Not actually done any neat joins on worktops though. Last lot I did was a temporary job and used joining strips.
Jimster has replaced his entire kitchen so may be better placed to answer your question.
Sorry I can't be of more help!

Nope you don't need a biscuit joiner. The joins are clamped together with special bolts

My advice is to take your time on every joint, I ended up having to buy on extra worktop because I arsed one up. It was still cheeper than getting someone to do it for me.

Ah, B&Q.

Nice to know there is such a breadth of knowledge on this forum so it doesn't matter what you ask people have a useful answer.

Happy Birthday by the way Ben!

leeds/wakefield.

those dog bone shapes in the jig are for trenching out the bolt holes, yuo must make sure you do not undercut the laminate top as it will buckle up when bolted up ,usually resulting in it either chipping a lump off [unrepairable] or just ends up looking like a ski jump,lol..

it really is a job for an experienced fitted ,it could end in tears .

carl,
ps,
heres one for you,
my next door neibours fitted a new kitrchen [i not seen it ] so i'll assume its crap.
but he decides its too complicated to make the scribe joints we speek of , so i offer to do them fro him ,
although i do not have the jig or router, but have done a good few in the past and were perfect with no problems .and still are,
they decide they would rather pay a fitter to do it with jig and router,
this fitter starts stalling on the jod saying he cannot get hold of a jig and router,???.
eventually nearly two weeks later he turns up and did the job with good old hand tools and releived them of £100 thank you very much ,lol.
only 2 joints.
i will of course not be offering my services to the ungratefull planks again..
it tickled me at the time anyway.

It is not the easiest thing I agree. I did mine and they look quite good although I would be better next time.

My philosophy is:
Anybody can do a professional job, with enough time and the right tools. A professional can do a professional job with any old tools and in no time.

my mate done mind on the scribe method and looks the bollocks.

but as said the pro's use the buiscuits and bolts with the router and jig.

but my mate recons they are alright as long as the walls are very square becuase if they aint the work top will be miles from the wall.

weres the but and scribe you can let as much as you like and it will sit square to the wall when finished.

but thats the old school taking.

ps fuck tiles used splash back its supurb bit of butt and scribe later job done no more poxy grouting woooopppppppeeeeee.

always looking for them bigger bunches of bannanas

same as mine mate but ive got cheery doors but looks the bollocks mate, them schriber carcases are a damn site better than hygina, just chuck the legs on and away you go.

as ive said i used splash bag rather than tiles if you are a good cut with a saw its a lot easier than tiling plus quicker.

sorry its a mess but just had breakfast.
