So.. she rings me yesterday saying her cant wont start... she said there wasnt any lights on prior to this and she hadnt left anything on, she got a jump start and got home... but then it was dead again, i put an old minis battery on and it started fine... went for a drive and all was ok..

I'd say it is the alternator. Exactly what is the issue would be guess from me though |

Battery light meens nothing on modern(ish) cars, my last two cars that suffered alternator failure never had warning light on but i spotted the telltale signs, lights dimming under load etc. And when checked with a meter it was dead. turbo 16v k-series 11.9@118.9 :)

Thanks for replys guys.. if it is alternator then fair enough, easyish fix BUT why didnt the batt light come on the first time it died? Or last night or this morning? Why 24 hours after dieing the first time? On 24th Oct, 2015 jonny f said:

Remove altinator, throw over hedge and fit new one, job done! Don't bother with auto lec they will bend you over.
