Been having issues with this for the past few months now and it's getting worse. The idle increases to around 1100rpm and the cooling fan kicks in. It was intermittent but now it's nearly every journey.

Can't see the temp as it's poverty spec but it doesn't seem to be overheating and no engine management light. No codes on a CAN bus either.

Have changed the OAT sensor but its still the same. Going to try the coolant sensor next. Any other ideas?

Cheers

How are you connecting to CAN? A cheap OBD2 dongle and phone app should let you access the actual sensor values, not just codes.

Could it be some side-effect of a bad engine/ ECU earth affecting sensor values, or a failing battery (some vehicles increase the idle to try and charge the battery)
