I'm on with stripping diff and looking at new bearings, the ahu1856 bearings for sale on mini spares say they need 1 or 2 thou preload but other places :eBay say they don't need any preload just fit with no shims at all, can someone confirm which is right please, cheers phil

Follow the Haynes to get the correct preload.

1 to 2 thou preload is correct for the bearings that are currently available.

Those that say you don't need preload on these, are wrong. Simples.
