Metro turbo Is head unleaded or leaded? spoke to a guy who's built engines for years he said the were ahead of times and they were all unleaded? I'd be wasting my money to have the head converted. Edited by Jonnyturboboy on 18th Nov, 2015. |

If you are talking a-series then unless it has hardened seats installed it needs lead-substitute in the fuel. If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of. |

Metro turbo heads were never factory converted to unleaded. So unless it's been done since then it's leaded. If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of. |

Been told by some old army vehicle people that they use a drop of 2 stroke oil in the fuel. I tryed it in the black one. Small bore with leaded head ( no inserts type) Done 40k miles with it for now. On a 11to1 compression. No problems so far. But if it realy helps...

The turbo never went unleaded, so they had to stop selling it at the end of 1989 as all cars had to unleaded compatible from 1990. The NASP MG did go unleaded, and took a drop in BHP to pay for it. |

I pulled an engine from a 1990 MG metro that looked totally stock, and it definitely had the MG cam, and all the MG externals, but only had the 33mm valves instead of the 35.6 but did have the hardened seats. As others have said - no factory turbo'd metro ever existed. Sounds like maybe this guy might not have been building A-series engines over all those years.... On 17th Nov, 2014 Tom Fenton said:
