Who's using them, what's the general consensus regarding stopping power?

Cool, think I'll run my old ones then for the moment. No servo though, got rid of it. What pads you using Rob?

Servos are for girls lol

The stock 8.4 2 pots? I never had an issue only went to vented 4 pots because i went down onto 10inch rims

Pads -

Imo the mintex m1144s are very good and i aways advise to use these but im being told alot to try ferodo ds2500 pads next just as good and alot less brake dust... im certain you can get thes for a classic mini

What about using spacers, or grinding the caliper? That could work....

That does work as i have done it

However grinding calipers should not pass an mot

Ie it might if the tester doesnt know but if he notices it should be failed

I have known wellers to clear them with spacers and grinding but dunno about other wheels.. to be honest its something i wouldnt mind doing on a lil old 998 hack but not on a turbomini with the abuse itll put thru them

A good job I know the mot tester then... So, to do it is a combination of grinding and spacers or can it be done by just grinding?

Only one way to find out... FIGHTTt!!!! Sorry lol... offer the wheel up and see.. and whip the caliper off n see what ya got to play with! But weirdly enough i was refurbing some wellers that ive brought today and out of curiosity chucked a disc in the back to see how close they are to see if i could do the space n grind cheat (weird timing huh!) but there REALLY is not much room at all.. for the sake of 180 quid for a 10" conversion (n possibly cheaper in the sale maybe?) theres no point compromising safety

Dont feck about with the caliper if your running 10's. Just buy the right ones. Its not worth it

I see minispares do a two pot set with new discs, flanges and pads for £206... Or, I can buy new four pots for £226 but I'll have to also buy new discs and pads.. Also, if I get the four pots I'll have to change the cylinders at the rear.. So cost wise it's a big difference.

Is there a huge difference between two and four pots performance wise.. Is the difference in price worth it?

mate dont fuck with brakes thats all i will say

i did it on my clubby took one look at it and thought fuck no.. forked out for 7.5 inch cooper s setup,
i already had a 7.9 inch 4 pot setup on my vtec mini at the time when i ran 10s on that

why do you need to change the rear cylinders?

yes worth every penny, to buy a similar off the shelf brake setup to what i have up front would be touching £1k, my rears are 8.4 inch discs and will probably out perform the '2 pots' on the front of a mini
its not done for the giggles lol

PM sent brett..

I was chatting to the bloke in minispares and he said the standard rear cylinders would have to be changed as the there is an issue with the pedal feel. I don't really see how but hey, what do I know lol...
