Afternoon chaps

My daily cooper started making a horrible noise yesterday in 1st, 2nd, 3rd

Pulled the engine and box this afternoon, leyshaft has had it, along with the bearing, and inner race of the leygear. The problem is that Its a DAM3168 close ratio one that uses the later A+ leyshaft.

The gearset is an a series, using the larger a+ leyshaft. The DAM3168 is no longer available anywhere.

Am I able to put a 22G1040 leygears straight in with the matched A leyshaft and bearings? Will this serup likely work with my current gears and A plus casing?

ummm yes, but you will probably need to file the casing at the ist motion bearing a bit to clear the end of the third motion shaft as the 1040 will have the smaller diameter longer bearing.
