Hello all,

I've got a couple of little wiring issues and I could do with a bit of clarification as i'm nearing the end of my build and want to get out and use the bloody thing!

Fuel Gauge wiring..... Does it go 12v > 10v regulator > fuel gauge > fuel sender > earth ... as mine is constantly reading full. I've made my own loom so i'm wondering if I've mad a mistake somewhere down the line. Is an SPI fuel sender compatible with the older style center speedo?

Cheers!

Graham

Your wiring sequence is correct and the SPi sender is compatible with most Smiths clocks. It depends on how old your speedo unit is as early gauges didn't use a voltage regulator and I don't think they operated thermaly. The regulator may have been introduced on the MK3.

12v to voltage regulator, then to sender, then the opposite side of the sender goes back to the fuel gauge, not to earth.

ring problems are down to wear or abuse but although annoying it isn't a show stopper
