Hi

I have a tom Fenton crank sensor bracket/damper set up.

I've got it all fitted up on the bench. Using a nippon denso alternator.
I put the fan belt on and it fouls the bracket.

I've had a look and it looks like I'm going to have to make a spacer. Not the end of the world but just wondered if this is the norm?

Thanks,
Josh

Where is it fouling? The bracket is intended for the standard alternator and belt. But lots of folk have fitted it with a Nippon alt.

You need spacers mate, I made 3 up.

They go between the bracket and engine

I have started posting on Instagram also my name on there is turbomk1golf

Nothing is impossible it just costs more and takes longer.

yes si. I was thinking the same thing.
just wondered if anyone had come across this before?

Would it be ok to use washers? or should I make a metal gasket type thing to go between?

I had to space my bracket so that the sensor was looking at pulley teeth fully, and yours looks like where mine would be without being spaced. I'm running a nippon alternator as well, and the belt is close but doesn't ever touch.

I used washers, to get it working and then when I was happy it was going to work, I made a spacer up in the lathe.

The bracket is made deliberately narrow. It's easy to space it off with washers, but difficult to make it narrower if it's too wide. The pulley position is different on every engine due to tolerances in the crank, thrusts, timing chain gear, shims, etc

I see Tom. I reckon a couple of washers will sort it.
As you say it's easier to space it out than machine down! :)

mine only just missed the belt but i had a random misfire at about 4500rpm.. took months of pissing about and i eventually figured the vibration in the belt was slapping the sensor at almost exactly the same rpm every time hahaha

Yes i moved to the darkside *happy*
