Derby, ish

Hi all, Just received a complete Metro turbo engine and have started to pull it apart for a rebuild.

The first thing ive started on is the turbo.

I have it apart now and am a bit worried about the axial float, the shaft has littl-to-no "end float" which is good (ie in-out) But had a very noticeable sideways movement (ie side to side) ITRO 0.25mm

I understand this is a floating bearing setup, so some space is required for this to work, but how much is too much?

There is no obvious oil leakage from either end of the shaft. nether end can touch the casing.
