I've decided the 13's and sports packs are going, and I'm going with Wood &Pickett arches and banded 10" wheels.

I was thinking standard 10*3.5 wheels with 2" banded onto the outside (10*5.5). Does this sound about right to fit under standard wood & Pickett arches? Has spacered drums on rear and MG Metro brakes up front...currently.

What brakes are best to run under 10" steels? I've read that Fiesta brakes won't fit - is that right?

Shaunas 3.5x10 steels on a cooper S brake setup sticks out archless about 10mm at the front and flush at the rear if that helps mate

Sound roughly right for arches yet the fronts might need the metal arch trimmed for clearance and the wp arches need that lip to be mounted.. (might not be there if you already have sp wheels n arches) and for how cheap the 10" brake conversion is nowdays ya might aswell stick with them.. essex banded wheels are the best place i know.. (they done the splitscreen campers wheels on wheeler dealers) not sure ya insurance company will like them im afraid...

Bear this in mind, 10" steels will take an S brake set up but that's about it.

Treat the bandits like mambas
nothing above 7.5 in my book I've seen people use large spacers to take the wheel away from bigger callipers but personal would feel safe

I measured up the 3.5" dunlops for banding but couldn't see how to get the clearance I wanted.

Have you considered 12" steels. The standard 12" are clearly ugly, but banded ones look suprisingly good IMO (and your 8.4 brakes will fit).

Swansea boyo!

I'll be taking off my tatty winter 3.5x10s in the next few weeks if you want one to play with?

Thanks for the offer Shauna, might take you up on that!

Don't really want to go 12's, I actually only like 13" or 10" wheels on Mini's, depending on the style of mini. Wings are new panels, so we'll be cutting for clearance then adding the lip back on for mounting W&P's.

So, Fiesta brakes fit with a 3mm spacer?

Cooper S 7.5 is a definite possibility.

Will the Minisport 7.5" alloy kit work? Are they worth the extra cost over Cooper S?

See my post above, only brakes that fit under them.

No off the shelf alloy ones fit.

I would fit Cooper S and mintex m1144.

OK thanks. Minisport site suggests their kit works for all 10" wheels. (Not the 7.9 alloy kit).

Video posted above suggests Fiesta kit works with 3mm spacer.

I searched high and low in 2010 for some to fit under them.

Without spacers they were the only options.

Might be worth asking maybe the designs changed. Specialist components do some calipers now to that look low profile.

Here they are, I loved the wheels :).

Swansea boyo!

I changed my mintex pads last week and they still had plenty of meat left in them after two and a half years and over 10k.
When I've swapped them over I'll leave one with Carl for you, I've got 10 3.5s haha, love them although I'm probably the only one who does! I do like banded steelies on the right car, not sure how they will look on yours if you plan on having them white too. Why are you banding 3.5s and not 4.5s?

Yea that was my first car :). Exactly the same as Ian is thinking of. 5.5 inch.

They had a great fit. Just a little poke out of the mini special arches but no tread showing. So should be the same and look great with w&p arches.

That looks great mate. Will check with Minisport and SC.

Shauna, I'm going Old English White car and arches, but with Anthracite banded steels and chrome hub caps. Using the 3.5's as they are the cheaper and easier to find. Also, doesn't make any difference when you're banding if you add a 1" band, or a 2" band.
