I chopped up a Metro Turbo on Saturday and took all the relevant bits home *happy* We kept the engine on the front subframe with wheels still on to make it easier to move, however as we lifted it out of the van the engine crane toppled and the engine landed on it's carb *frown* The carb smashed into a squillion pieces and the dizzy shattered too, but no other damage (thankfully!).

How difficult is it to get hold of a Metro Turbo carb & dizzy, and are they different from standard ones? What should I expect to pay?

Cheers guys (not the ideal end to a 600 mile round trip to collect the bits, but at least no-one was under the engine when it fell!).

unlucky mate, i've always worried about the rope i use to lift the engine in and out snapping and the engine landing on the turbo, maybe i should stop worrying about it or it might happen lol

i believe turbo dizzys are different, the shaft has different dimensions, so ive seen on some web sites. they are quite common on ebay.co.uk, aswell as the turbo carbs, they seem to be common, or im sure someone on here maybe have one they can sell to you!

Turbo carb is a sealed item, so a standard carb off a normally aspirated engine won't be any use. The Turbo dizzy has an advance curve tailored to the engine, so again it will be best to use the correct item. Try putting an add in the wanted section on this site as these items seem to go for stupid prices on ebay etc

As I've gone for mapped ignition, I've now got a turbo dizzy that i'm not going to need. I've had the advance curve slightly modified to suit a fast road spec engine.
