Got an RTS with a couple 1275 springs and a Minispares steel flywheel.
I've been running it with a £10 motor factors solid clutch plate but I'm looking to up the power when the engine next goes back in so think it a good idea to put a decent plate in it.

I've got an 180mm AP Bonded plate which had about 500 miles usage sat on the shelf:-

I also have one of the 190mm Verto performance plates new in the box:-

Question is, which one do I use? I'm thinking the 180mm AP Bonded one personally as it is as new but open to other opinions.

I'm running the 180mm bonded AP plat in mine without issue so far. I may also have wrapped it in blue roll to keep it good

i had the AP one too, with 2 x 1275 springs in an RTS, any solid plate will hold more torque than you can make imo

Yes i moved to the darkside *happy*

It also makes financial sense as a new 190mm plate has resale value! lol

stick the AP one in and flog the 190mm one
i doubt you would notice any difference between the two in the car and like you say a new plate is easier to sell on

if it helps john , i had a stock turbo plate ,and it was fine up to around 200 lbs ft , its then spun like i was in neutral with a little more boost .
the ap one grips ,and is fine at what i estimate is 230 lbs ft , on the 23 psi spike i get as i go into 3rd . and 4th... instead it then spins the wheels and i drift across the track into the other lane ...so much more fun as well.

Medusa + injection = too much torque for the dyno ..https://youtu.be/qg5o0_tJxYM

The AP bonded plate has a different friction coefficient to the standard plates, which is why it holds more torque.

While the 190mm plate has a greater radius than the 180 plate, i think they still use the standard friction materials. The 180mm AP bonded plate might still be better. What would be nice is to have the higher friction coefficient material on a 190mm plate.

Obviously you can also add more clamping force to increase the holding torque and get similar results within reason.

Is it A-Series only? I think it should be...
So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

I, does it worth save £23, from the AP plate for the Minispares version C-AHT595.

k1200 conversion, N.A. will be happy to reach 100lbft.
