i agree about the correct timber for the job i was just saying that we use steel for one reason or another it works best for us and our climate maby its price or because its easy but most use steel and use the silver paper with fiber glass backing it works for us

ether way it looks good and im sure it will work for your needs

at the end of the day its a place to get away and work on the toys so thats a win what ever way you take to get there

So this is whats been holding up the progress of the mini... but I think you'll agree its been with it...

Felted the roof as soon as it was dry..

Then threw up some lighting...

Insulated the walls with kingspan and then plasterboarded throughout...

And then used the patio doors we had spare after extending the house...

Started work on the inside... had a go a plastering it which turned out not too bad, left it rough for the rustic look... Then started on the bar...

Arrived back from Wickes with loads of packs of cladding.. cladded the bar and the walls most of the way round...

Then varnished and painted red all around...

Added some stair bannister spindles from Wickes again..

Wired up some spotlights too... from the old kitchen ripped out..

And then had my first beer to celebrate the progress up to that point...

Then started on the floor... the in-laws had some left over boxes of solid oak flooring from flooring their hallway and kindly gave me the remaining boxes.. I had to buy a few more to finish but can't complain...

Wired in some LED lights to the top of the bar and the shelving units on the wall behind the bar... (they were units I found in the in-laws garage that they didn't want, perfect for the job).. they look great at night...

Everything else was sourced from eBay and gumtree... i.e. stools, table and chairs, wall signs, beer pumps etc... the dartboard I had in the garage so stuck it up in here..

The minis seats are resident at the moment... cleaner than the garage!

And finally cladded the outside last week...

So its pretty much finished.. we have had several good nights out there and the good thing is we don't have far to walk home! Everyone who sees it loves it and is very impressed so its very satisfying knowing that I cut every bit of wood, plastered, felted, painted, wired electrics, turned every screw and banged in every nail... sure I had the odd bit of help from friends for the awkward bits but I am very proud of it.
(without trying to sound like I'm blowing my own trumpet lol)

I was raised by paddy's hence the Irish theme..

*hehe!*
