Looking to get one, what have people got? Im open to all suggestions and tips n advice but the 2 ive narrowed down to is

This one... its nice and small and light.. tilts so no need for ramps.. should fit in the garage too but would 4 wheels be better for stability?
eBay: http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&...EBAY-GB&alt=web

The other is a small car caterham/mini/classic car enclosed trailer... which would be so nice for keeping it safe and shelter.. plus when at home is another dry space for another mini *smiley* but i cant find the link at the mo.. (but is 5 times the price)

that's cheep for a new trailer and looking at it, I'm not sure it looks the most durable - I of course could be wrong. I do like the ideal of a tilt though.

To be honest, I'd prefer a twin axle trailer; a minno would be a good buy but you'll pay the same money for a used one though.

finally, where are you going to keep it? shiney trailers out in full view attract magpies. the smaller ones would fit in the garage

You are better off all round with a twin axle. I've had tyres blowout on mine, no drama just pull off to the side fit the spare and away again. On a single axle that could end up a lot lot worse.
Mines a PRG, essentially the same as the current Minisport, in turn essentially the same as my mates Brian James Minno.
As Rob says, it fits inside a standard garage which means I can store it away from robbing eyes. They are a very often stolen thing car trailers.

Derby, ish

I'm actually developing a mini specific transporter trailer. Not quite finished yet.

Its USP is that fact that it can be stored folded, so doesnt take up your entire driveway when not in use.

The bad thing about tilt bed trailers is if your cars broken down or got no engine in you have got to winch it up where as a standard trailer with ramps you can push it on!

I built a sprinter recovery wagon, was Cheaper than a nice twin axle trailer and the licence to tow it legally. Storing it is a bit of an issue though lol.

that's the problem with buying a recovery truck for this sort of thing. yes, its a great tool but its another big item to store, tax insure and mot and, if its not used much, i'd be apprehensive driving great distances with one. Appreciate in your case Denis, its a work tool but most of us its going to get used once in a while

Not quite understand.. the ramps are going to the same angle as the tilt no matter how you push?

The company sent me this link of it in action..

Tom- your right i would want twin axle... they say they make trailers to anyones specs so maybe they could add one?

Rob- it would be in the garage with mini on top or round mums out of sight so hopefully out of eyes..

Evolution- i have actually looked at that idea and even looked at a local transit recovery.. i understand peoples points on its expence with insurance etc etc.. but id just use it as my daily transport as whenever we go anywhere as a family we take the mrs' car anyway..

Smegmium- can you post some pics up? I tried following your links but was denied access...

I get what jamie is on about but I'd still prefer a tilt bed if I could afford it. its a lot quicker to load and unload and needs less room to do so as well

Would a trailer dolly not be Intresting

you can do anything if you set your mind to it...

You need a tilt bed if you have a low car.

Otherwise your ramps have to be two miles long and you will end up trying to tilt the whole thing with the jockey wheel anyway. Been there.

I'd agree on that point too. Mine is fine for low cars; ramps are 8ft long hence the comment on space needed to load or unload

Obviously if your ramps are 1.5 m long and say your tilting trailer is 3m long you have the same gradient as a tilted trailer but a shorter duration to push up and once it's on the trailer it isn't going to roll off

If you have a single axle trailer why go the expense and complication of making it a tiltbed? It just makes it heavier and more complicated.

For a single axle, just unhitch it and it tilts.

I had a twin axle for years on the same theory as Tom with blowouts.

But the disadvantage of twin axles is:

1) They scrub tyres to death which means you need to replace them a lot.
2) They're a pain to move around the drive
3) they weigh more and require more maintenance.

I've now got a single axle trailer and it tows as straight as my old twin axle. And when I did get a blow out it was no drama to pull up to a stop.

So unless what you're towing needs multiple axles (owing to tyre/axle loadings) I'm a convert to single axle.

I do take on board your points Wil, BUT, surely you only tow about 400kg of race car? For that a single axle I'm certain is perfectly up to the job, but double that weight and add a bit more and I'm not sure I'd still feel as comfortable?

As for moving twin axle trailers by hand, its easy, just wind the jockey right up so the front pair are lifted clear of the ground, then its as easy as a single axle to move about.

Yeah, car is light. But the trailer is covered. The whole package is about the same weight as the mini on a trailer was.

90% of caravans have single axles, and they're heavy.

Pays your money............
