Seems that at some point the locating ring on my block has seen some side load, probably sliding it on the bench, causing the narrow part of the iron to crack near the locating dowl, but not down to the thread. The the cap is still positively located by both dowels. As shown by the photo of the cap with some engineers blue, the affected area is minimal. Aside from putting a radius on the chip to ensure a crack will not form, is there any reason to worry about using this block on a high power/output engine? I cant see one but thought I would ask.
