Hi guys,

I'm in the middle of building up a couple engines and on one I'm planning on fitting high lift rockers.....ok so all normal so far....what I'm trying to figure out is what is so special about the set up to make these lift the valves higher.....when I tried looking into it from what I can tell the post height is lower??? This doesn't make much sense to me, just really looking into it as I would quite like an understanding of bits before I fit them as I'm quite new to the rebuild side of things....any light somebody could shine on this would be great.

Thanks
Paul

The ratio is different. (The bar where they hinge on sits further back ) so that makes when you lift the rear the same hight as before the front puches down deeper. Thats about it. In what i learned is... dont mix wild cams with high lifts. Something has to give... i would more prefer a good cam with 1.3 ratio rockers then a standard cam with high lifts.

But saying that... im far from a specialist

you can do anything if you set your mind to it...
i rather blow it up winning than keep it together losing.

finish date set for project 1... march 2018

My one experience with high lift rockers in a turbo A series with modest power was that they were noisier and knocked out the mid range. Poor trade off for a bit more top end in my case.

Know that different cams have different amounts of increased lift built into them, so you may not need or be able to use rockers with increased lift.

I also had the same experience as tadge44, so it's a good idea to search for your intended cam / head spec and see what works.

the higher lift rockers will increase valve lift on overlap, it wont increase the amount of overlap but the valves will be open further at any given point, this is bad for a boosted engine,

it really does depend on the cam as to how bad this is but in general the higher the lift ( ratio ) the worse it gets
i understand the kent cams range are intended to be used with 1.3s

Yes i moved to the darkside *happy*
