Hi Guys

Was looking at possibly going down the route of the force racing titanium subframe, I emailed them last week but not had a reply as of yet. I just had a few questions about them:

1. Whats the grade of the titanium?
2. What is the OD and thickness of the titanium tube?

If anyone could help that would be awesome

Thanks
Chris

If your going to try and attempt to make one then don't it not a 5min jobs
And cost is not cheap due to material/ welding as I have found out
And its quite a head scratcher making a suitable jig up
If your serious then I would invest in his I wish I made that choice but I'm to far along now to turn back

I've looked into doing one for my car and as it's not a mini I cant really just buy one. (Or atleast there would be no saving for me to do so.)

I found its very hard to source tubing. It's not just a case of buying grade 5 and ordering by the meter. Would be interested to hear if anyone else has successfully bought some in small quantities.

small quantity I would say not a chance to a outsider
I was lucky to have a friend who does engineering/aero but it not a
Overnight order even for him

i never proclaimed to know the context off his email. If it was a genuine question about purchasing and not to rip off, but either way a reply to emails is just politeness either with a no or yes.

Most companies these days have a 24-48hr turn around to inquiries so yeh by todays standards. Even MED or Swifty get back to you pretty promptly with some kinda reply saying no they cannot or yes they can, 1 week is just diabolical.

He didn't say it's been 1 week. He said "last week". Could be anywhere from 2 to 9 days. That isn't even the point of the thread - I imagine he's just mentioning it so the first response wouldn't be "Go email them". Probably a bit quick to judge?

I think these are fair questions to ask a vendor. Anyone handing loads cash over without asking first is pretty stupid imo

i did ask about turnaround time but don't imagine any of you could answer that so didn't put it!
But I completely understand the answers along the lines of "me copying them". But it was a genuine question as I did look along the lines of lightening the original and then realized it needed additional bracing ie gussits when lightening along with seam welding. Like everyone I have brought items online and have been done! and I wanted to know what I could have been potentially buying nearly to the sum of £2k.
I would have been more then happy with a reply along the lines of "Due to the sheer investment on my part in these sub frames I can't give this information but please rest assured that they fair exceed the spec required for the job of a sub frame"

Sorry if I upset or p****d anyone off..

Chris

Without wishing to tread on anyones toes, I guess, if I was in this situation, I would expect to see what BS or EN code it was designed to, and what certification to prove it, rather than just tube specifcations and sizes.

If it were to go on a public road, rather than just track days, I guess that's a legal requirement anyway ? (or would be covered by IVA/IVC/IACV/whatever the latest version is...)

Just my opinion.

If you have to justify why you have to spend 2k on a subframe, then perhaps you should be looking somewhere else.

As for comments about road safety and any sort of official, government, legal test..... Most people on this forum are driving round with un qualified home brew electronics controlling the ignition at the very least! In fact many of the after market ECUs available off the shelf are not qualified either.

personally, I think this has been blown out of all proportion. In my opinion, it would not be unreasonable to know the details of the material of a product you are buying. The OP was quite clear in his post that he was considering using the force frame, not making one
