hoping to do turbo engine on budget.

Can i Bolt on turbo head and all turbo stuff onto my existing engine block ehich has 9.4.1 CR.

I understand i need to lower the CR using new lower compression piston, rod?

would standard gear box with upgraded compition diff cope say 120bhp turbo engine ???

Thanks

Jay

Yeah, that should work. I remember reading in one if the mini mags rolling road sessions that somebodys engine spec was a turbo head on a 1275 engine from a Metro HLE IIRC. No idea how reliable it was though!

A standard Metro Turbo engine has a CR of 9.40:1 so you should get away with that if you don't run too much boost pressure. Once you add dished pistons to lower the CR it ceases to become a budget build.

intersting, i plan to add the nessesary turbo gear to my 1293. not planning on running high boost but what sort of bhp should i expect? 80-90ish? I've got an intercooler to go on too.

so given its a few extra cc and its a fully lightened 1293 with 1.5 rollers, 100 is not out of the question?

yeah mate, for my first turbo install i found out that the engine i had bought was absolutley wrecked.... so i put the head & gearbox on a bog std non mg 1275 metro engine and it went fine. Just keep the boost down and bear in mind that its not gonna take as much abuse and you should be fine, at least untill you can afford a proper set up

hopefully the 1293 should be fine. I only had it built around 8 months ago by long established company who restore old cars like bugatti's and rollers, only done about 200miles on it so far. I had it converted to 11stud, cooper s rods lightened and shot peened, lightned and balanced crank, flywheel, orange clutch, uprated clutch springs, turbo clutch and crank pulley all done in one assembly with glacier bearings. The pistons are dished and obviously .20 over (de-skirted Powermax's). A 276 cam, duplex timing, 2 bolt centre strap.

I sure hope that can handle the power!
