As above so after the trip to sc in Norwich to be sent back to Brighton due to suspect fuel flow issue, turn out from what I can see it's quite substantially overboosting then cutting fuel pressure to save the engine, but I think I may be too late as It spits coolant out the overflow on boost??? So I'm thinking its lifting the head what are your thoughts ...

The most the map requests it 1950 mbar or so yet it goes as high as 2600mbar

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

The overboost is your problem!!! This needs to be sorted. Pronto!

This is in turn over fueling because of the rising rate fuel regulator, so sort the the over boost.

Now the over heating problem is simple plumbing. Issues. Compounded with crazy over boost

Now lifting the head off with that boost no way,

What ECU? What boost control?

Benross you have confirmed that for me I said to them when I was there that it has no cat so it may over boost!? they assured me everything was good minus the fuel but I don't have a rising rate ref on it as it require just a constant 3.5bar feed to the Hp pump temp wise it doesn't go above 90deg...

Will

It's a

Specialist components delta GDI 4

And I'm running the std ford boost control valve etc

Where is the boost valve mounted? I had some weird over and inderboosting issues when my valve was mounted to the engine, moved it to the bulkhead and issues went away., with the cat gone you may need to port out your wastegate, fairly common issue on some jap motors. Alternatively fit a good old bleed valve.

Evolution the boost valve is on a bracket on the vacuum pump as per oem, good point will see what they think they can do mapping wise tomorrow

My SC boost control took some fanying around with, the mini always overboosted as I'd got the open loop boost map wrong (base duty cycle %).

What does you base duty cycle look like?

I'm not sure how it is but I requests 67.5 % from what I saw Saturday

That'll be why it's overboosting then.

knock that back to 20% and see what boost it makes.

Some useful info here http://www.turbominis.co.uk/forums/index.php?p=vt&tid=589864 from when I was trying to work it out

Thanks for that will, but from what they told me these use the vacuum to hold the wastegate shut would that method still be the same ...

I suggest the ECU works the same, it's just the piping of the valve that is the other way round.

I'd be cautious playing with it...are these not a VNT turbo that operate off vacuum ?

And a lot trickier to get boost right than a simple wastegate setup ?

Also why no overboost protection in place ? Add some to ensure you dont spike so high again risking damage.

Steve I'm not sure it must have a way of protecting on the Ecu

So turns out the std injectors can on do up to 1.4 bar of boost, so there maxing out then the pump cuts off so I'm going to bring the duty cycle down 20 percent and go from there

So, more importantly, what was it like at 24psi?

But now it's at 15 it's not so much fun and the issues still there for some reason the Hp pump drops all its pressure after a while on boost ..... I'm lost! Lol

yet the Ecu will only cut fuel pressure when manifold pressure is above 3500mbar

Is whatever ecu you are using actually tuned to allow the engine to run that boost though ?

Just because you think the injectors can cope with that, doesnt mean the ecu is fully tuned to allow you to run that

Be sure.....engine repairs from improper tuning can be expensive.

Yeah I know the Ecu is mapped/tuned for 15 psi boost and I brought the duty cycle down just over 20 percent so now max boost is 15.psi

Eother pumps getting choked or its on the road out, have no experience of the ford setup but plenty with binis/pugs/bmws. Deviations in requested vs actual fuel pressure is almost always a sign of high pressure pump failure, especially if it struggles to start and hold a moderate pressure when cold@idle. Obv assuming the lift pump / filter are decent and clear.

Evolution the the lift pump to the swirl pots new along with the pump to the Hp pum is new, I also have a pressure gauge just before the Hp pump and it keeps a constant 3.5 bar even when the Hp pump drops of / even before it drops... The home seem to meet target the whole way through then just drops but when it does its only a tiny bit of either side like a bar or two off

Cold starts are spot on it hold a constant 50 bar at idle which is requested
