So... as i was membring around the garage i found a non adjustable twin timing set...
I can be death wrong here but doesn't that set the came timing at 107°?

Edith... just realised that this twin set is the one from the 998 i have to rebuild for my neece..

. so extra question out of intrest ... : if i check timing with this one or in fact any timing set and see it needs a timing key... would it be the same timing key on every sprocket set ( on the same cam of course )

And the metro cam needs to be timed in at 107.5° so give the chain some strech and thats about where i would end up right?

Or am i just looking at it the wrong way?

If im right i just need an oilpump and i can start the engine build.

As an extra. How do i check if the vibration damper is still good?

you can do anything if you set your mind to it...
i rather blow it up winning than keep it together losing.

finish date set for project 1... march 2018

The sprockets are not that accurate so you need to fit them. Check the timing and then select the right key.

As for the damper check there are not cracks in the rubber. The rubber needs to still be soft.

I've always timed my MG metro cams in at 110.

Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph
