Fastest A Series Mini in the World

been to the pod at the w/end for more testing .

having sorted out the blown rear h/gasket . i hoped for big things,
i started with mid power setting on both engines , but on run 1 was getting lots of smoke in the cabin , i could not tell where it was coming from , but stilll went through at 11.5 at 122mph , so didn't suspect any engine probs .
run 2 ,now with the power upped to 85 hp in the rear and 70 in the front on a 2,5sec ramp , a 1.71 sixty saw me go over in 11.07 at 123.8mph and to the 1/8th in 7.2 at 102.5mph but now with even more smoke in the cabin , and i still could not work out where it was coming from , even down to suspecting a rubbing tyre,. still not suspecting the engines as it seamed to do the business, and they were still clean.
now run 3 and 95 hp in both engines , but the rear starting with 70 ramping in 2.5 secs , a good 60ft of 1.69 , but immediatly the cabin filled with smoke so i aborted and cruised to the end, i looked behind and noticed the rear compartment full with smoke [as did most spectators] at last i had found the culprit.
called it a day and returned home ,
tonight i pull the head to find no 1and 4 pistons nipped and no compression to be had,
now these engines showed no imediate failure at anytime but just got worse and worse as the power went up.
i beleive the damage was done at the previous meeting at york when the gasket blew mid run and i drove to the pits with a boiling engine , some deffinate weekening must have taken place as up to that point i had absolutly no trouble from said engine in the last 2 years and only changed the h/gasket a year ago as a precaution. .

during the runs a had on sunday i was convinced the car was not launching as hard as it had done earlier in the year but thought i was imagining it , obviously i was mistaken , so although i did not make it into the 10s i'm happy i almost did with a seriously poorly rear engine.

thats it for me this year as there no point rebuilding so late in the year plus i need to fit taller FDs to both engines as this has been one of my biggest problems as not being able to use all the torque available for all the run.

some fresh engines [both 2 seasons old now] and correct geering plus all the bugs now gone should hopefully see a good start to the new season next easter, i have plenty of time ,lol.
