Force Racing ICT Dept Manager Miglia Turbo Am frum Yokshyer tha noes!

Chaps, some of you may know I'm going to run twin 40s on my Vauxhall engine. I was planning on building an ally airbox slash plenum with an outlet on the side for remote filter.

Question is will the shape makenany difference in performance?

Warwick.

Apprently it does.

Entering the plenum one side, the flow will favour one side, tapering away creates even flow to each runner

Cheers for that pic mate I'd had a tapered box in mind to start.

Careful how you interpret that flow simulation.

The ports flow one after the other not all at the same time.

The cross sectional area of the part of the plenum feeding the furthest port needs to be just as big as the rest of it.

The way it reflects the induction pulses will be of consideration too. If you make it curved like in that picture it will scatter them. Sometimes this is good, sometimes not. Only dyno will tell for sure. Also a lot depends on what space you have available to fit it all in really.

Space isn't really an issue to be honest, it's Na 1.6 8v.

At first I was just going to run a rectangular box but I'm probably more confused now than I was before lol

Why use a plenum at all, just seems like extra weight to me.

Can you not just stick air filters on the carbs?

Best Plenum that I've seen on here is Phil's:

I could do wil but the carbs sit up the back so it'll be a tad toasty, was thinking about having a cold feed that's all.

In which case I'd suggest a massive box with a cold air feed. Make the box big enough to avoid any specific flow issues.
