a LIL fishing village on the coast - Newcastle Upon Tyne

ok now that a child is on its way in my house, my big plans turbo wise have melted into the floor ! can anyone inform me what sort of reliable bhp / boost i can get out of the following setup.

standard block, brand new rings, block has been deglazed etc and prepped proffesionally. standard rod bolts, no centre main strap (arp one, it just has stock mains). standard head. sc drops and cross pin diff. and i have an rs turbo intercooler. oh yes i am running phase 2 cam.

anyone enlighten me ? i can no longer afford arp head and rod bolts, or full roller rockers

Rick

Great question, I'd be very interested in this too. Saving for an Alpina but still want (sorry need) my van with a turbo.

no centre main strap

I could surface grind it and make a 3/4" plate to cover it

I'd say for the price of the centre main strap it is WELL worth doing it if you can. Last time I bought one it was ?8 or something.....

ARP head studs etc a luxury, std ones will do fine, but again ARP rod bolts are a must in my book? Worth maybe saving for a month or two and doing those couple of things right, save you hassle in the long term.........

i have reused std bolts and got away with it on a very high revving n/a engine.

but from what people say, i was quite lucky.

i think most serious engine builders use ARP rod bolts as matter of course.
