most failures are not worthy of bring the car back for a free re-test... its the garage that extends you that as a bonus!

I seem to remember that if the car was tested 7 (or 14 maybe) days after the original test then only the faults need to be tested. If it is longer than a week between test and retest then a full test must be carried out. The garage has always been free to charge what they like for the both the test and retest, I think. http://www.twin-turbo.co.uk

as the system goes over to being computerised, it is becoming absolutely impossible for garages to give free restests if the vehicle leaves the premesis without risking its mot license. The only exception to this are a few odds and sods listed on the back of the new tickets they issue for failures. a real pain. the guy i use now has to charge us for any retests as he HAS to spend a full 47 mins checking the car over, whereas before he could get away with just cjecking the failure points.
And on the 7th day........... God created turbochargers! |
