The other half’s XC90 engine has decided to die due to a blown turbo which promptly threw the entire content on the engine all out the back of it, leaving me with the issue of scrapping the car or replacing the engine. As it has had quite a bit of work carried out on it recently I am leaning towards the latter.

Has anyone changed an engine on an XC90 before? If so any tips?

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Probably a lot of work...but I think it's the same engine used in most of the 5cyl Volvos so at least supply should be good ?

9.85 @ 145mph
202mph standing mile
speed didn't kill me, but taxation probably will

I would personally put a lot of effort in looking for an engine from an identical car ( to the t) so you can keep all the electronics of the car and just swap the metal parts in. Mixing electronics is a ball ache.

That sir, is not rust, it is the progressive mass reduction system

Post 2000 volvos seriously dont like you messing with electrical stuff

I would follow the above advise get an identical engine and fit it, but dissconnect the battery before you start and dont re connect ot untill everything is fitted and back in place

All Volvos are shit. Chuck it in the bin and be thankful it gave you an excuse to get rid of it.

I hated mine from the moment I got it to the moment I sold it, and still hate it now. The only good thing was the engine.

Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph
