Been trial fitting my safety devices 6 point in today, getting the 3mm spreader plates in position to be tacked up, and having massive problems getting the rear cage feet into position.
First of all I loosely assembled the cage into the car, with the nuts on just enough to stop the bolts dropping out. I then jigged the rear cage about a bit to get the rear feet up against the arches (no diagonal and previously been strapped together too tightly by somebody so theyd pulled inboard a little)
I then got the passenger side floor foot pushed up against the sill and drilled the holes to loosely bolt in, pushed the opposite side out about an inch to do the same.
Now the problem started in getting the rear cage feet to fit properly, the angle on the one is horrific and sits about 3-4mm away from the arch and spreader plate, bolted up tightly it's still about 2mm gap towards the shock tower, and that was with me strapping the leg as much as i dared towards the front of the car to get the angle something right.
Moved onto the other side (wedged outboard and strapped forward to get the correct arch to foot angle) and it's probably a good 10mm away from the arch without the 3mm spreader, fooking miles out!
I've attached an image of the gap just before I gave up on it.
I'd like some measurements of anybody can help out, first of all the length of the rear legs, and then distance between the rearmost legs across the width, and then the distance between the floor mounted leg and the arch mounted leg. Preferably in a car that's got one fitted. I want to check it's not the cage before I sack it off.

I was most likely doing it worng but I started with the rear feet first.

I found that I had to use some wood and a jack to push the rear legs out.

Then with the rear bolted I moved to the middle, drilled and bolted then frount hoop.

Not much help now if you have drilled the middle..

Nothing is impossible it just costs more and takes longer.

The last cage I had, no idea who made it, but it dropped straight in all 4 feet no worries, just needed the rears pushing out a bit, but was only acrear cage so I sold it. This is terrible to fit, I think it's having the front cage on aswell which makes it much less maneuverable. Worst case I'll just weld the holes up and try going back to front.

Should be an easy fix as your welding in the plates anyway

Bigest problem i found with fitting the rear cage is that there is a 3/8" discrepancy side to side in the dimensions of the shell. The drivers side rear wheel well sits a little further back

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

I also fixed the rear cage in first in mine, had to jack out the rear legs aswell....

I would agree with what Colin says about the arches

I agree with what's been voiced above.

I started with the rear cage and used a body shop hydraulic press to push the rear legs outward into place. Can get some pics but not until the weekend.

Fresh look at it definitely helped loads, finally got it sitting in place, window packers have a multitude of uses!
