The boring bloke who runs this place.

Don't forget some decent fuel line.
8mm is best (isn't it Iain?)

Currently mini-less :(

8mm inside diameter for both feed and return is recommended by many and what i have used on mine.

Also a good filter between the tank and the pump. This uses 10mm ID hose though so make sure you get a filter big enough with 10mm tails.
*happy*

I found a MPI tank solved all my fueling problems. Highly recomend it!

And it's quite.

I must say the "turbo box" option does not convince me at all. God knows how much the torsional stress of the bodyshell is affected after you chop the crossmember in half. Also on LHD cars then you almost have no place for the brake and clutch master cyls.
MirageMotorsports sells an interesting kit to fit the Garret T2, as found in Renault 5 GT turbo. The nice thing is that the smaller turbo gives a more progressive torque delivery, and ultimately, more "usable" power and torque. Also the R5GT Turbo "Phase2" already included water cooling for the turbo housing - particularly interesting in a Mini!

Check them out

I planned to fit one of their kits, but right now I don't have the time (and maybe shouldn't spend the money, either)

Sounds like a pretty good alternative to the T3. Cheers *smiley*

I have a water cooled T2 in my van. all i did was mod the metro manifold.

but its a lot more work than you think. best bet is as you say, buy the manifold.

Will settle the left hand drive bit out - it is possible!

I understand the comments about the bulkhead box, but if you consider how many have been modified, and that solid mounting the front subframe (which should be done at the same time) adds strength back, along with the numbers of people that have done this conversion, there is little to worry about.

I would advise sean welding the box together before fitting, then make sure it is properly seam welded into place.

Hold your box in with pop rivets, or practice your welding here, and you'll regret it however... *wink*

One question: this kit is to fit a Garret T2 in a Metro Turbo engine, or to fit a T2 in a "normal" 1275 mini engine?

Thanks,

Marc

My sister is so fit I won't show anyone her picture

As the engines are exactly the same, bar differences in pistons etc, then the kit will fit either engine.

You can use your existing dizzy, but the advance curve will need to be altered to suit the Turbo engine.

what would you need to do to a normal 1275 to turbochare it?
just the same as above?
also how much is the T2 kit?
am i right in thinking that you dont need to have a bulkheadbox to fit the T2?

cheers
