Iv not been running a dump valve for over two years now but will be turning boost up to 15 psi this summer from 10. What's other folk using if any, I don't want the noise of one , are the recirculating ones much quieter.cheers

I've run with no dump valve on the skyline
Well actually it was seized by the water / alcohol lol
Im going to recomend having one but imo the subject is quite a can of worms

Recirc ones are almost totally silent

If you look for one of an audi you can pick them up for pennies of ebay

i went with out for a few days running about 17pound and it was quite loud when you closed the throttle just the turbo flutter or turbine stall what ever its called but it did sound cool..

now im using a Recirc one its an alu body one and its plumbed in to the back of the air filter to be fair it still quite loud but its just a TuHHH not the flutter sound as with no dump

kinder just happy to have it sound a little more "non turbo" and be a bit better on things dono if it really makes a difference but it makes me feel better at least

i think under vacuum the thing could be open so best to have it into the air box on the clean side

I have fitted a few cars with the Bosch plastic valve above, good value for money I think I have bought them for £8 from ebay before now!
If you pipe the dump into the intake pipe behind a cone filter you can still hear it, but very very quiet compared to an open dumper. Personally I cannot stand the noise of an open valve, you just look like a chav (my opinion).

I have a dump valve but now that I have turned the boost up to about 17psi I also get turbo flutter (and a loud squeak !).

Does this indicate that my dump valve is not dumping enough pressure ?

I love a dump valve sound, I time my gear changes next to sexy ladies walking down the pavement; this gets them all excited and they start fancying me!

Either that or they think a bus is pulling up.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.
