ok so the mini was showing some in my eyes low pressures but saying that its flow not pressure that keeps the crank off the bearings isnt it?

i had 10-12psi at 1000rpm idle and a top out of 40 psi at at 6krpm.. both pressures are at 104C

so long as the pump is pushing the volume then all is good right as its a hydro dynamic oil wedge at the crank and rods is really what they are rideing on right?

when cold the engine has like 40 psi idle and 75 full revs so is it shit oil or is that just what it should do?

the engine was bmw oil gets and kinda large main and rod clearances at like 2.5-2.75 thou so while i had the engine out for fixing some leaks and other bull shit i thought id pop the center mani and a rod cap and they are litaril like brank new not a mark at all.. so i was like ok whats the pump like it felt like rubbish to turn over by hand so just order one and only just got around to looking into the pump and it hase some marks but really nothing to bad well i say nothing to bad as ive had a pump that was totaly chewed up still give halfway decant pressure on a stock engine so anyways i think the pump was ok besieds some grit in it makeing it feel notchey

so i looked at the pressure relif as its a bell type so changed back to the stock type but this was really only to see what would happen as when cold the engine had good pressure so in my eyes the thing couldent have been to stuck or open maby wrong but ehh its back as a stock relif now so will see

i also pulled the bmw jets out and cleaned them out on some nice whide paopur in the hope id get some junk out of them but nothing excep oil so haveing no real way to get the ball bearing and spring out i just blew the shit outa them with shop air at 125 psi and carb cleaner so id assume any junk in ther is gone and if not well its not comeing out.. so is it just the hot oil and big clearances causeing what looks like low pressure?

the box ot block o ring was in place and the gasket was trimmed to let the o ring seal in fack the o ring was stuck to the block when i pulled it so it was sealed up tight there.. i checked the pump gasket and it looked good a nice compression around the ports so didnt look like a leak there so not sure whats really normal but ive read 10psi per 1000rpm is all you need?

by that al i need is 10 psi at idle and 60 on red line but ive only got 40psi at 6k rpm at 104c oil temp.. so its low at the higher rpms..

evan tho its low the bearings look like new not a scuff or mark on em so just lose clearances causeing this?

what do you see for pressure/RPM/temp ??? from all the old timer talk this seems way low but other places i reed say its not pressure but flow that makes the thing live so what do i belive or aim for?

To answer the questio is 10psi oil pressure at idle and 40psi at higher rpm when hot ok?

I reckon it's fine. Especially as 104 is really hot and you don't say what grade oil you're using.

I think you answered your own question in that. You do like a waffle *wink*.

Bearings are fine I wouldn't worry.

I've had the standard light flickering at me on idle after thrashing my old 1380 on track and that was fine on inspection. The oil got pretty hot I think that's what does it really.

ok so its Penrite HPR 30 20W-60 (Mineral)

also one thing i did not mention is the temp is measured after the filter and cooler right before it gets into the main galley so im sure the actual sump temp is much more how much i donno

Typically the minimum safe pressure to aim for is 10 psi per 1000rpm.

40psi / 2.8 Bar @ 6000rpm is dangerously low.
