I've fitted a 2014 alternator from a Suzuki alto to my mini, but I'm having problems. It's a 4 pin plug. Initially the light on the dash comes on, and goes out and charge sat about 13.2v but after a few minutes, it stops charging and the light doesn't light up, at all with the engine running or not. If I disconnect the battery and reconnect, the dash light comes on and it repeats the same process.

I've only connected Ign & lamp

I think the problem is that this alternator should be controlled by the engine ecu or body ecu for the correct voltage. Then it will not work properly with only lamp and ign connected....
Best is to swap it for a simpeler type
