Which ECU is recommended to go with? I have seen Megajolt and Megasquirt but now Ive just saw Aldons Amethyst and a one called NoDiz

Are they virtually all the same except Aldons thats a little more basic and doesnt use a trigger wheel?

Do you need it purely for ignition ? Or are you wanting to run fuel injection ?
If you want fuel injection then Megasquirt is the only option from the ones you listed above.
Also if it's for a forced induction motor you need an ECU with a map sensor. I don't think the Nodiz offers this ?

Id use Vems in even just for ignition. You'd get dual wideband, knock, egt and boost control all in one box with the optional 52mm gauge like any other common Wideband.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Hi, no not planning on fuel injection, but planning on turbo

I will have a look at the Vems as well

Its just going to be a road car, not anything fancy like a track / drag monster so ideally looking for the cheapest option possible that will work with a turbo

Can't go to far wrong with Megajolt really. Complete kits can be picked up for a decent price second hand.

Yes, the amethis takes it input from a dizzy or similar, so 4 pulses per revolution, where as the jolt uses a 36-1 tooth wheel so resolution is better,

also the max boost range of the amethist is bar, the jolt is 1.5 IIRC

Nodiz does have MAP capability and doesn't need the EDIS module to drive the coil. It also has bluetooth and a phone app. I use megajolt, so I don't know how good or bad nodiz is, but on paper it has extra capabilities that megajolt should have had years ago.

Hi All,

I'm starting to think about an ECU for K1100 Turbo build. Would Megajolt be my best option? or are there others on the market that are better?

Megajolt just does ignition,

everyone has their preferences, but anything aftermarket is going to need to be wired in, unless you go to Specialist components as they do built looms.

some names to look at in no particular order,
Emerald, Omex, VEMS, Megasquirt, DTA, Motec, weber Alpha, Speeduino, Specialist components ...

thats just a few, of varying coplexity and price.
