Looks and sounds great. Good work, will be interesting to see how it makes power and drives.

Well the clutch was never going to bed in. The jolt sometimes was so rough the bonnet has chipped the scuttle panel!

I pulled the wok off last night and the orange plate looks out of shape to me the plate that the bearing sits on only has marks 2/3 of the way around. Looking at the old AP blue plate it's much better made. So I swapped them over, testing has been stopped as I have been called to London for work👎. I hope this fixes it.

Three guesses where the spring plate was from

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

Is it the whole spring or just the thrust bearing plate?
I know that on some of the later springs this was a crap normal steel plate, whereas originally it was a proper hardened & ground plate.
I do tend to try and rescue/reuse old ones now if they still look good.

I looks more to do with the construction of the diaphragm. The small flywheel bolt plate doesn't seem to fit flat. The entire orange setup looks very rough compaired to the original AP blue.
Will see when I can next drive it around the block. Also looks like the heater matrix might be damaged as it was weaping. I changed the hoses as they were looking very second hand.

Just more niggles to sort.

Well the orange plate from Minisport was dickered, the blue ap is back in and the car runs smoootth.

The engien want to rev, as you would expect, and the gearbox has the best remote change I have ever driven. That's with the minispares SCCR remote kit and the new so called super-duper Baulk rings.

Next stop the rollers.... and 9k 🤤😜

Thanks Jonny, my FAD (Fat Arse Dyno) says it feels quicker.

Joe c these ones the cost was eye watering for the kit, but it feels good in the first 25 miles 😀😜, I mean what could go wrong?

I asked rich what should I get and he recommended these ones.

I've bust in two (or three sometimes) every baulk ring that Rich has ever sold me; and he builds my boxes!

Not tried these new ones yet though as not been using the mini.

I'll pop down to the action day. I must check if the Nimbus has MOT, tax and insurance........

To be fair Wil, you were running a lot more in the terms of power and grip than my car. They are in there now so time will tell. If it stays the same I will be a very happy chappy. It's the first gearbox I have fully rebuilt with a new gearset etc.

So my daily, broke, the wife's daily has also broke the morning after and is stuck 200 miles away.
Faced with a 2.5 hour rail journey or 50 mins in the car, I decided to take the mini. Wakes you up in the morning..with the luxury of a terraphone intercom connected to my iPhone, I spent the drive to work trying not to keep the car at a constant rev.
Got to work and as I parked up there was a tap on the window. It was our very own Colin who had just turned up for a job on the same campus.

42 miles in a 47 year old car and having to constantly resist revving the balls off it..

So a good day at the dyno, running it in and checking the fueling.

Rev limit at 8k and hardcut at 8.3k

We think there was a bit more to be had but the tune is safe and I didn't fancy putting more timing into the map.

We made the required figure so I decided to leave it alone.

Blimey! That sounds like it's going to be a quick little bugger. I will be seeing you in my rear view mirror pushing to overtake me at Blyton. Well done, I look forward to seeing it Graham. ☺

Thanks all,

Roy, I doubt it mate that car of your is fast.

Jonny I know we rev'd it to 7.5k and it sounded more like 5.5k. So we pushed the rev limit up, I think there is a bit more in it. The graph showed maybe another 500 is before it tails off it's starting to peak at 8.

Oh I forgot to mention we hit the magic number of over 100bhp at the wheels. 104 to be exact. Hence why I stopped, it's what I have wanted since the start and not bad for a Fred in a shed engine.
