How much difference will ignition timing need to be altered if you changed your cr from say 9.1 to 8.5.1, just after a ball park figure,2 or 3 degrees?

When I ran that compression ratio I found I needed about 16 degrees for it to idle nicely. The lower the compression the more timing you should need for the engine to pull nicely off boost.

Yes it's poor before 2000rpm till boost just starts since changing pistons from 6cc disc to omega 10 cc I changed cam at same time from standard 1275 to a Avon ph2 It drove a lot better before and not much quicker than before cam.on boost will it need more advance on lower cr?

If you're running the same boost, but a lower cr in theory you should be able to run more advance.
Obviously if you're running more boost you need to retard the timing.

I nearly got the kc500 , but read good things about p2,wish I had as I don't like revving past 6000 rpm any way.
