Hi. So i removed a cam from a 998 engine which is clearly reground. Its stamped ph4 but have no idea where it came from. Anny ideas? Or does anyone can predict me how it will run? Lobes are thiner and a bit lower compared to a standard version of the same cam ( see pic's )

Thanks in advance.

Morspeed I reckon,

I know thwy did phase 2&3 cams, the phase 3 being a trackday cam, presumably phase 4 was a race cam of 290-300 degrees.

Deffo a morspeed that mate

I had a phs3 and it was a great cam. Id say it would be pretty wild and think anything under 4 grand will be pretty shit.

So now i have a powerband between 2800 and 6800. Would mean my power band would be between 4000 and 6800 then? Would it make more power then the metro cam thats in there now?

It may make a bit more power but will move it into areas of the rev range you may never use.

What are you doing with the car? Daily or Track?

no idea without more details on your spec,

but generally a full race cam is going to be shit in a standardish engine, you'll want long runners and a good head, and high compression to make the most of it.

Like Joe says your pissing into the wind a bit without the figures. Personally I wouldnt use it unless its going on something pretty wild.

The 998 is high compression ( 13 to 1) 3.1 diff 1275 flown big valve head from a metro. Electronic ignition twin 1.25 carbs thats about it. I use it maybe 7 times a year to do a 200 km run in it tops or when the fiat brakes down. Come to England in it once a year top. Thats it. Done maybe 500 km this year. Do sometimes pull a trailer made out of a mine end with it.
