Pedantic I know, but does anyone see that the Swiftune kits claims a reduction in reciprocating mass ?

Morning all,
Thanks for the answers, Apart from Joe that really likes belts the rest of seam to be in favor of simplex with the new iwis chain. As for the swiftune kit I have a few concerns about alloy gear working with a steel chain

yeah chalkie, it was a bit gooey in there, i think this coupled with some tight exhaust guides pushed it too far.

I do like the belt arangement, but you definatly need to keep an eye on oil leaks which is often a problem on the A series... also this was the older style minispares/trigger type which its hard to get good belts for, if anyone was looking at belt drives a wuld suggest the SH or DSN one as these use a large tooth profile in what looks like an MGF VVC belt.

Northamptonshire.

Reason why I like timing chains. My Mazda spawned an oil leak on the inlet cam and my cam belt dis this on Xmas eve left me stranded

But personally with timing chains all the engines I've built I've always used duplex chains even lightened or vernier.

But I do like the idea of simplex with a tentioner. Anyone using that style

North of the Netherlands

I have seen a Swiftune simplex fail but that was on an all-out racer and I don't know the root-cause.
I'd go for a duplex; seems a little bit more on safe side.

What's the addd value of simplex over duplex; a small bit less rotating mass?
Will you notice this added value in your application?

Dazed and Confused....
