I've managed to resist until now (mainly due to hearing horror stories), but I've got some stuff to get rid of that I think I'll try on ebay.

Any of you seasoned ebay users got any tips for an ebay newbie?

Cheers

Neil

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

if you can be bothered (and the stuff is easy to post) list it worldwide. It fetches a lot more money that way.

Use and the price finder to get cost estimates. The only difference is where its going. you still only have to take it to the post office.

For large or awkward stuff list UK only.

Register for paypal. Its worth it for having no hassle payments even though you do get stung for a few percent.

Don't start too high, i always start most of my auctions at 99p. it encourages bidding. If the start is high then less people think about chucking a cheeky bid in and then dont get carried away! *happy*

Get some bits on and get some feedback asap. Always leave feedback asap as then the purchaser/seller is more likely to do the same.

ABout all i can think of at the minute *smiley*

Good luck, its not that bad to be honest, ive only had a couple of bad deals and because i used paypal i got all my money back.

and make sure the title and area your advertising it in is right. I've picked up some decent bargains on stuff thats been listed in the wrong places.

Don't put too many items on one day,as when they finish you end up spending 1/2 a day with the sticky tape and hunting box's(that sounds like jim !)

I was going to pack stuff up as soon as I put it on,but if sombody buys 2-3 things your stuffed

If your selling mini bits the put a link in all the mini for sale forums

Put as much detail in the auction as possible. Pictures too.

My tip is get lots of words in the title, as this is what most people search in. Mini stuff isn't too bad, all you really need is "mini" "rover" "austin" and "cooper" if you get what I mean, that will cover most peoples searches.

Always put something on the lines of
"These items are second-hand. If you want new, Go to a dealer and pay many, many times the final sale price. I've advertised this as honestly as possible, I wouldn't sell junk afterall, but I'm not willing to recieve bad feedback because someone found the slightest wear in a component that is clearly second hand. As I've said - if you want new - BUY NEW"

That should get the point across *laughing*

Also - add this in the 'payment' section:

"Payment to be recieved within 5 days of the invoice being sent out. Western union not accepted".
