t-2 turbo with crack

I have bought a t-2 turbo on ebay, but it has some cracks in it, a friend told me that the turbo still might be usable, but it looks pretty bad. So i wonder if someone can have a look and help me decide if i should bin it or not.

i'd give that a clean up to definitely make sure where the crack is running to start with asi it looks to be travelling in a different direction to what i'd expect/seen before, may also be worth removing the exhaust hsg and check to see if the crack runs through to the other side

its difficult to predict what the crack will do long term but you don't want to be losing boost pressure through it thats for sure!

replacement housings are about ?100 i think

Think id risk it for a biscuit....

But as dan says, replacement bits are cheap enough, atleast its down stream if bits do come out...

If it does get worse you soon realise.

well I can se another crack, so infact there are two. the one that splits into two, and one furter down in the picture, about 2 blades down from the big one, that is just getting started didnt see that one before I looked at the picture

I've used worse than that - and they boosted up just fine. I'd say take all the part numbers down, and look for another, but use this one in the meantime!

yes the general consensus they give no problems., with the cracks only if a large piece detaches. and then the turbine runs out of steam.

but it would be nice to have one in perfect nic
