Morning all..

I'm wondering about heater valves. This is more of a style thing than anything else, I want the engine bay to look as tidy as possible. I went to minispares a while back and bought lots of goodies, I did have the intention of buying a heater valve that bolted straight to the cylinder head (no.1 in the picture on the below link) as it looked the neater job but was talked into buying a floating in line job (no.2 on link).
So I came away and mocked it all together in the garage and I just think it looks a bit gash, pipes bending all over the place and this stupid valve that actually looks quite cheap and IMO shite!
With the other valve (no.1) the feed to the heater would come off the valve perpendicular to the top of the block and neatly disappear into the bulkhead. The take off I have (no.14) means the pipe has to come out upwards and then bend around and blah blah blah...

They both do the same job, should I just get over it or what do you think?

Midlands

the old style ones are pretty hit and miss as to how long they last in my experience

i'd fit one of these and keep the inline personally

Yeah, the DSN is the neatest solution. Why not put the in-line valve inside the car and hide it behind the dash?

the design shows a distinct lack of imagination,
talk about starting off with a clean sheet of paper, then not bothering to fucking draw on it,lol

I'm mainly concerned about swirl in the runners caused by the tangential entry.
