Hello All,

I'm starting a turbo K build, so the old motor has to be sold to make some funds. So I'd like to ask some advise on what it's really worth... I am under no illusion that I won't get back what money I put in to it.

I built it out of parts all bought seperately - didn't start with a whole engine, this seemed sensible as I would be replacing or re-working almost all the internals (so spent only £130 on the bits that weren't replaced).

so it's an NA 1330cc A+ motor producing 101bhp (on Baldwins rollers so take that with a pinch of salt)
has about 7-8000 miles on it, oil changed every 2500-3000 miles.

Parts are mostly from Minispares, MED, and ebay, and some off this forum

Broad list of parts and works:

head 12G940
BENROSS full on head work + guides, springs, seals studs etc.
valves (MED)
ARP Head studs
standard rockers

A+ block
re-bore
pistons - 21253
conrods
conrod work - Lighten, balance, shot peen (Rob Walker)
ARP big end studs & nuts
crank
crank work (MED, wedge, cross drill, lighten, nitride)
flywheel
centre main strap
clutch
diaphragm
alloy lightweight pressure plate
front plate and cover
vernier duplex timing chain
SW08 camshaft
heavy duty push rods
cam followers
extras - all bearings, core plugs, oil gallery plugs, heater valve, thermostat & large housing, oil filter head etc.

's' helical gearset
4 pin diff
rebuild g-box & diff - including all bearings, correct shim washers, genuine NOS baulk rings, etc

megajolt

Totalling about some £3,415.00

I'm never in a million years going to get that for it.

So what's sensible sale price?
Or what would you guys offer/ expect to pay?

similar (slightly higher) spec ebay linky:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Classic-Mini-A-S...gwAAOSwnbZYFk~B

but mine will be dirty and grimy, obviously.

I'll start a for sale add pending some response here.

Many thanks,

Matt

Mmm the trouble with engines is its like selling a box that someone is telling you is full of valuable things but in reality could just as well be empty. Even if you can verify all the bits are there you never really know how good it is unless you've built it yourself. You kind of have to bite the bullet and strip it down to sell as parts.

With the current way a-series stuff is going if i could measure and check every last part id give you good money for it but as a whole engine im not sure id want to pay even £1000 (and please dont take that as a slur on your honesty its just what you have to do to cover your ass when buying engines)

So in answer to the question maybe ask for £2500 and work down? Nothing to loose by asking for more than you think its worth to start with!

Yep I'd say at least if it's split up you can see what's there too

Plus I'm sure there's some bits you'd want to keep no?
4 pin diff
The short block bar pistons

Could probably get over a grand for the rest too

Thanks chaps,
Thing it it's all used parts now, so would it really be worth all that much in bits??

If it will Add value or help a sale, I can dig out pictures to show bits and pieces, as it's built, and the minispares buying history. I sadly don't have many reciepts because it's a hobby.

For the next build, I'll have a limited slip diff, H rods, SCCR gears, RTS clutch. So I can't really re use any of it.
And I have a doner engine for that.
