Jumped in my little 998 hack today.. havent took it out for a couple weeks.. put it in gear and went to pull away to find the slowest release ever..

If you push the pedal down it goes to the floor as normal.. but do it a few times quickly and it gets harder until half way is the only distance it can get to.. leave it 5 seconds and u can put it down as normal..

Start the car in gear and acts normal.. start the car in gear with clutch down then quickly remove foot from clutch pedal and it will then go to pull away a couple seconds later..

Im thinking the fluids not returning quick enough? Ive had slave cylinder off and acts freely etc.. reservoir/cylinder what-ya-wanna call it is only few years old?

Any thoughts?

yeah could be the hose if its a standard one, or Ive had the seal in the master go squiffy before so the pedal sticks, it actually used to sort it self out with a few pumps so was wondering if the sea; can flip inside out of somthing.

Robert and joe.. i have had both problems before with brake parts instead on another mini so i definitely can see where your coming from...

I may swap hose first and see? I could just change it all but then ill never know the culprit and that always annoys me

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Plus two.

I've had that happen, the steel plunger body and crap alloy of the WOK corode together.

It would certainly explain you pedal going hard after a couple of quick pushes, the plunger doesn't return fast enough and you just push it to the overthrow nuts which is a pretty solid stop.

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???

Wellllll thanks for all the replys guys but Robert gets the brownie points!! Had a look thru everything and the hose had a bulge just under where it bolts to the bulkhead.. swapped that over and its perfect! So the force of the pedal would push fluid one way but the crapped out hose wouldnt let it return fast enough to let it pull away which really does make sense with my original post as quick pumps kept pushing fluid thru n only returning a small amount back until it was maxxed out and the pedal went hard then leaving it 5 seconds was enough for the fluid to return... it was like the title says a slow clutch/ someone riding the clutch?

Thanks again guys *happy*

Good stuff,

I had the same on the front brakes once, made for an interesting drive! this is a good reason to go to braided hoses, in the case of the clutch one you can get a competition one that goes straight from the master to the slave in one peice.

Whilst you are thinking about it, lubricate the plunger in the wok! As said they can seize in place. Just go steady with a little oil as you don't want it finding its way onto the clutch.
