i want a turbo!!!

first of all like to say what a great site .
now for the help bit ,i have a 1000cc mini and a bit of money but NO mechanical knowledge , and i want to turbo it .
I`ve phoned acouple of places and been quoted ?????`s to do the job , what i after is a guide to what i should expect to pay for a supply and fit turbo conversion??
Or if anyone can put me onto someone who can do the work , or can recommend a firm to me.

i would need ....
supply and fit turbo engine etc
and would the engine be fully rebuilt , and would may std suspension/ brakes handle the extra power etc.

You need to be looking at quite a budget for all that...

What kind of budget do you have to play with, and what kind of power are you looking for. Also what do you want todo with the car, fast road, race, track day?

Jim is right... you need to decided what you want from the car.. The beauty of turbos is that you can extract almost any bhp figure (with enough time effort and money)...

Rough figures would be somthing like:

Engine 2nd hand ?200-400 depending on condition
Exh system ?100
Fuel lines ?30

Thats just for parts... fitting depends alot on the condidtion of the car. A turbo puts alot more power through the car than its designed for, so everything needs to be in the bext possible condition... so it worth budgeting for all new suspension bushes and new disks/pads.

At the end of the day the sky is the limit it all depends how much you have to spend... a budget is much easier to work to than trying to guess at base costs...

i had set a side ?5k max for the complete transformation , but was getting quotes for that amount just engine work .
Is ?5k enough or am i being taken for a ride???

I can make you up a spec, but it be better if you say what your after and I can tell you whats possible and whats not or could be altered...
